A ferrofluid is one of the more interesting materials of modern electronics. A ferrofluid is a suspension of tiny colloidal magnetic particles in a liquid. These magnetic particles respond to an applied magnetic field in such a way that many properties of the liquid suspension, like viscosity, are altered. This property gives a ferrofluid many of its most useful applications in technology.
